I am a DPhil Student studying Seventeenth Century English print and manuscript recipe books using digital humanities methods. I am interested in the intersection between text and practice, print and manuscript culture, women's writing, the history of knowledge, and how computational methods can expand the field of early modern studies. My DPhil project is titled "The Sociability of Recipes: Expertise, Aspiration, and Attribution in Seventeenth Century English Recipes Explored in Part Through Digital Quantitative Methods" and explores how recipes as a genre can make us rethink pre-existing conceptions of authorship.
Before coming to Oxford I completed my Master of Arts (Research) in History at the University of Sydney with the thesis "From Social Capital to Product: The Commodification of Women’s Knowledge into English Printed Books 1615-1700". I currently co-convene the Interdisciplinary Early Modern Graduate Workshop and have co-organised the Digital Approaches and Methodologies Network and the Emerging Digital Methodologies Conference.
